Craft Projects Using Old T-Shirts
July 12, 2008
Rather than running to the store to buy all new fabric for your latest craft project, have you ever thought about using old t-shirts or flannel shirts? They often end up in either the trash or the rag bin but there are lots of things you can do to spruce up a shirt you just don’t wear any more. And those that no longer fit or are worn out can be used to rework other items or create new stuff!
What Is Finger Knitting?
July 11, 2008
Knitting is a fun, relaxing and productive hobby, but the required knitting needles can sometimes be a hindrance. You can’t always take them everywhere you go, especially if you’re flying. It’s also not a good idea to give knitting needles to young kids. So does that mean that children and frequent flyers can’t knit? No, they can do finger knitting.
Finger knitting uses the same concepts and techniques as regular knitting, but no needles are used. In fact, nothing but the fingers and yarn are used. So finger knitting is a great way to pass the time when you don’t have your needles handy, and it’s great for laying the foundation of knitting skills in kids as well.
Thrift Store Shopping for Crafty Projects
July 10, 2008
Frugal shopping is a way of life when living on a budget but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy crafting. Thrift stores are great for finding bargains on all sorts of things. But most of the items that make their way into thrift stores have seen their better days. There are lots of items out there that are just begging to be refurbished, or even turned into something completely different. Here are some things you can buy at a thrift store, and what you can do to re-create them.
