Simple Design Tip - Add a Stroke
May 27, 2008
I’ve got a quick tip for you today…want to add a little something to your photos, but don’t have a suitable frame? Add a stroke! What is a stroke? A stroke is a border around the photo or element or paper, you can put a stroke on anything. Most programs should have the stroke option in with other effects.
Simply select the photograph then go to your menu and select stroke. You can change the color to white or black or any color you want using the color picker to match your photo. You can adjust the size of the stroke and also decide if you want it on the outside of the photo, which give a rounded corner effect, or on the inside, which keeps it straight.
Is it OK to Scraplift
May 20, 2008
You may have heard this term mentioned before, but were not quite sure what it meant. Scraplifting is taking inspriation from a layout you’ve seen and basing your own layout on it. This is not copying, it’s simply taking the features you like and using them. There are different levels of scraplifting. Straight scraplifting where you do copy the layout fairly closely and then simply taking one element of the layout you really like and using that as your inspiration for your own layout.
